Streusel the Salt Dragon of Sulz is here to show you round his town
Hi kids! I’m Streusel, (pronounced Sh-troy-sel), the Salt Dragon of Sulz – and I get to travel all over the valley of the river Neckar. Sometimes I fly high up in the air and can look down over the Swabian Alps and the Black Forest. Sometimes I dig around in the secret caves, deep beneath the mountains, to top up my salt reserves.
When I’m not flying high the air or digging around down deep under the earth, I love spending my time in Sulz. There are so many things for little people to do – and I am one of them, don’t forget! I’ll show you a few of the things that I always find fun.
See what it feels like to be a princess in a castle …
... or maybe a robber baron! The ruined castle of Albeck sits majestically, high above the town of Sulz am Neckar - and above Fischingen sit the ruins of Wehrstein Castle, too. Let your imagination take you back to times long past. Follow a nature trail through the forest to get there.
Speeding round the indoor kart circuit
Salt dragons like me, of course, spend a lot of time whizzing through the air like the wind. But I sometimes feel like having a go on something with wheels, too. So, I get into one of the go-karts at the Neckar-Kart-Center. The indoor circuit is 400 metres long and really fast! Drivers must be at least eight years old.
Amazing armour in Glatt Castle
If you want to see how knights used to protect themselves in times gone past, then come to the moated castle of Glatt.
Fab fun with canoes from Kanusport Neptun
Climb aboard a canoe from Kanusport Neptun in Fischingen, just down the road from Sulz, and shoot off down the river Neckar like an explorer: that’s a really fabulous, fun thing to do. OK – I get a bit wet sometimes – but that’s all part of the fun! From there, you can take both shorter and longer trips. Before you start, you’ll get a clear and simple explanation of all the dos and don’ts.
The giant slide in the Susolei leisure pool
A giant slide, a playground, beach volleyball and a diving pool: all good reasons why a visit to the Susolei leisure pool really is a must in summer.
Pumping and paddling in the municipal park
There’s always a lot going on in the Wöhrd municipal park, on the banks of the Neckar. In the water playground, you can pump the water yourself and control the way it flows through the labyrinth: through loads of pipes, over the waterwheel or anywhere you like, really. Just try it!
Hug a huge mammoth tree
How long are your arms? Could you get them round a giant sequoia? You’ll find them near the ruins of Albeck Castle in an area called the ‘Stumpen’.
Mini golf for mini people
The miniature golf course is to be found in the Sulz-Glatt Castle Gardens, between the ancient trees and the river. There are 14 holes and the course has views of the moated castle and the newly created playground. And there’s a kiosk where you can buy drinks, snacks and ice cream. The mini golf course is open, when the weather is dry, from the middle of April to the end of the Autumn holidays (beginning of November) from 11:00 a.m. until dusk.
