Educational path through the history of the Albeck Castle ruin at Sulz upon Neckar
The Albeck Castle ruin is situated 549 m above sea-level on a mountain edge south of Sulz upon Neckar and is one of the best kept castles in the upper Neckar region.

In order to familiarise the interested visitor with the eventful history from its origin until today, the Rotary Club Horb/Oberer Neckar has initiated this educational path with additional support of the town of Sulz and the Förderverein Ruine Albeck e.V. (Friends Association for the Albeck Ruin) in creating seven consecutive information boards leading from the river valley through the woods uphill to the castle ruin.
As additional information for the interested visitors and foreign guests each of the information boards is equipped with a QR-code which can be activated by appropriate mobile devices.
Upon arrival on the edge of the mountain the traveller can expect a majestic view of the Neckar valley and the town of Sulz; a picnic area as well as recreation facilities for resting are available.
The walk, passing all seven information boards takes about 40 minutes.
Sentier historique Ruine du château fort d’Albeck, Sulz am Neckar
Le château-fort d’Albeck est situé sur un éperon rocheux au sud de la cité de Sulz am Neckar à une altitude de 549m. Il compte parmi les châteaux forts les mieux conservés de la région du Haut-Neckar.
"La montagne sur laquelle se trouve la ruine s’élève à environ 800 pieds au-dessus de la rive droite de la rivière. Depuis la crête on a une vue magnifique et paisible sur la vallée du Neckar."

Avec la participation de la cité de Sulz am Neckar et de l’association de promotion de la ruine d’Albeck, le Rotary Club de Horb a mis en place un sentier historique pour faire découvrir l’histoire du château fort aux visiteurs intéressés. Sept panneaux thématiques bordent le sentier qui mène le visiteur depuis la vallée jusqu’au château en traversant la forêt.
Le visiteur passe en revue les faits historiques qui ont marqué l’histoire du château fort et qui sont illustrés par des citations du pasteur et chroniqueur local, Friedrich August Köhler.
Un code QR a été apposé à chaque panneau afin de pouvoir mettre à disposition des visiteurs soit des informations complémentaires, soit les informations dans d’autres langues que l’allemand. Pour cela, il suffit d’un smartphone compatible avec les codes QR.
Il faut compter environ 40 minutes de marche pour parcourir le sentier. Une fois au sommet, on a une vue majestueuse sur la vallée du Neckar et la cité de Sulz. Des bancs et un foyer à barbecue invitent le visiteur à faire une pause.
